The TSA Secure Flight program requires that all passengers have full Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD) in their reservation at least 72 hours prior to departure for ticketed reservations made more than 72 hours in advance. If a reservation is made within 72 hours of flight departure, full Secure Flight Passenger Data must be provided when the reservation is ticketed.
In compliance with this mandate you will not be able to purchase a ticket or travel November 1, 2010, or later, regardless of purchase date, without providing the following information.
- Full Name (first, middle and last name, as it appears on the non-expired government-issued photo ID that you will use when traveling)
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- Redress Number (if applicable)
- If it was not provided when you made your reservation
- For reservations made prior to adding SFPD to your AAdvantage account profile
- For all future reservations
By adding Secure Flight Passenger Data to your AAdvantage account profile, we'll add the SFPD automatically when you make reservations through American Airlines† in the future. You can follow the steps below to add SFPD to existing reservations.
Adding Secure Flight Passenger Data To An Existing Reservation
You must provide your SFPD at least 72 hours prior to departure. You will not be able to travel without the TSA mandated Secure Flight Passenger Data in your reservation.

- Go to My Account and click the Password Tab
- Enter your Secure Flight Passenger Data then click "Submit"
- Go to My Reservations
- Under "View My Reservations" click "Select" to upload the newly entered data for each reservation
- Go to My Reservations
- Under "View My Reservations" click "Select" to upload the newly entered data for each reservation
- Go to My Reservations
- Click "Continue Without Logging In"
- Enter the "Find Reservations" fields
- Under "Passenger Details" click "Add/Edit Passenger Details"

Remember to check the name on your AAdvantage account to ensure it matches the full first and last name that will appear on your ticket so that your AAdvantage miles will automatically post to your account.
Adding or deleting a middle name or initial will not affect our ability to credit miles to your account. If you need to adjust the name on your account, we're providing a one-time option to do so via AA.com. You will be required to provide both your date of birth and gender in order to update the name on your account.

How will my information be kept private?
Privacy of individuals' personal information is an integral part of the Secure Flight program. TSA will collect the minimum amount of personal information necessary to conduct effective watch list matching. Additionally, personal data will be collected, used, distributed, stored and disposed of in accordance with stringent guidelines and all applicable privacy laws and regulations.
